I remember how badly I would long for some of the tropical fruits that we have here in Costa Rica when I was growing up in California....

We have "Jocotes", "mamones chinos", and "anonas", "guabas" "sweet lemons", and other great tasting fruits!

I was recently visiting the region of Perez Zeledon, in the southern parts of Costa Rica, and got my hands on some "naranjas malagueñas"... these are sweet oranges, with no acid taste at all. I bet there are some special fruits many of our foreign visitors have come to love... What is your favorite tropical fruit?

not really a fruit and you can get them anywhere..

but the avocados in CR are the best in the world. I hated them until I lived there.

yummm and the pineapple.. I search at all the local gourmet grocerries to find CR pineapple so much better than those from Mexico. SMaller and juicy.

Just moved recently there's a naranjas malagueñas tree in my yard, those things taste like candy!
Mamones chinos are another good one.

Are these the stars you're referring to Judge, or these?

Sugar cane is another great tasting choice, and the Manzanas de Agua o de Rosa, or "Water Apples" and "Rose Apples" are also great!

American friends.... when you come to Costa Rica, be sure to try some of the fruits mentioned in this thread

Kaya man... where abouts do you live? Will these naranjas malagueñas grow in the Greater San Jose area? I brought a Malagueña to work with me today, and yep... they are delicious!

Those are all good but I still like the poosae, very plentiful, sweet but has a strange odor, kinda like sardines. They come seedless and are very juicy, sometimes. Very expensive, no matter how you cut them up. Anyway, give em a try, poosae.
